Williams FW16 (1994) pictures

Sadly, the Williams FW16 will always be remembered as the car Ayrton Senna lost his life in during the third race of the 1994 season at Imola.

The team struggled with the car at the beginning of the season having been forced to get rid of the computer-controlled driving aids that had been used so extensively in the previous two seasons.

Once the car’s handling was sorted it became much more competitive, and Damon Hill took the battle for the driver’s championship down to the final round, but lost out after being hit by rival Michael Schumacher.

However Willliams retained the constructors championship, partly thanks to Senna’s replacements David Coulthard and Nigel Mansell.
