No official confirmation yet (expected tomorrow), but the Mazda Road to Indy did host their winter series at the 2.75 mile road course earlier this year.

I do not like the look of the pit entry if it’s still in its state as seen in google maps, that building makes the road look very tight…5th May 2014, 15:18 at 3:18 pm #258828SPParticipantFrom the AP article: “Proposed track changes for the IndyCar race include a new pit entrance and wider, longer pit lane, as well as adding perimeter fencing and straightaway enhancements.”

From indycar.com:
A Verizon IndyCar Series race on a newly-configured 13-turn, 2.67-mile road course at NOLA Motorsports Park will debut in April as part of the 2015 season.
INDYCAR, NOLA Motorsports Park, local and state officials made the announcement during a news conference at the facility in Avondale, La., about 14 miles southwest of downtown New Orleans.

29th August 2014, 14:20 at 2:20 pm #272603MatK77ParticipantNew venues are always welcome, but I find it difficult to get excited about this one. It looks like an overgrown kart track. Flat as a pancake, and totally featureless. It appears that the owners have bought a small plot of land and tried to fit as much tarmac into the space as possible, it’s all switchbacks.
As rickety and dangerous as Houston was, I prefer to watch the drivers dealing with the challenge of concrete barriers and a horrendous road surface than an aimless second gear bimble around a country park. And that’s speaking as someone who wants to see fewer street tracks in the series.
Moan over.
