History

Virgin’s sponsorship deal with Brawn in 2009 led to them joining up with Manor Motorsport to enter a team for the 2010 world championship.

The team originally competed using cars that had been designed entirely on computer, without the aid of wind tunnel testing. But that practice was abandoned in mid-2011 and designed Nick Wirth was replaced.

In 2012 the team was rebranded as Marussia.
