  1. My son and I are going to Monza 2011. We are stating un Desio and are seated in 6c. Would be glad to hear of anyone who has knowledge of either the stand or area we are staying in.

    1. We’ll be in 6c too! Really looking forward to it. I’ll be the one in the McLaren top and my wife will be Ferrari (Button and Alonso) we’ll have the RAF Flag with us too if the Italians let us fly it!

  2. We are planning a boys (men only) trip for the race. i have been to Sepand and Silverstone before. Anyone have some advice on best viewing points , hotels to stay at etc. We are flying in from South Africa

    1. Stay at Bellagio on Lake Como. Its beautiful. About an hours drive to Monza but the traffic can be a bit heavy. We stayed a Hotel Central.Clean ,tidy about 3 Star. 5 minutes from the Lake but no view from the Hotel.

  3. I am planning to go to Monza for the first time in 2011. Want to book soon, any advice? No camping (after Spa 2010, when had horrible time with leaky tent and car broken into in Liege after escaping site on Sunday – race good, though). Want to fly from UK and stay in hotel. Happy with GA if can see some action and get there in time. Is it worth paying more for grandstand tickets???? Can I get on site in time if not camping if have GA ticket? Was at Spa by 7am on race day and had a great view.

    1. Hi Helen

My son and I are also going to Monza for first time, and like you suffered at the hand of Belguim weather last year whilst camping so are staying in hotel.

From what I have heard from a colleague who went last year if you stay in Milan which they did it is a real treck to get into the track, by train and then about an hours walk.

We have booked a hotel in Desio which is only a couple of miles away from Monza and seems to have reasonable transport into the track. The cost was about 520 Eur for a twin room.

easyJet also have good rates to Milan.

As far as where to go I would always get a seat, and the tickets are far cheaper than Spa was. I spoke to Monza and they told me stand 6C on the first chicane was the most popular so went with that. This us also where my colleague sat and she thought it was great.

      Hope this helps.

      1. I went to Monza in 2005 and stayed in Milan. The trip to the circuit is pretty bad because of the congestion but it’s worth it to take in a bit of the city in they evenings!!

I recommend Ristorante Rigolo and a place called Biffi which is in La Galeria. Very nice food and wine!!

The Cathedral has recently been restored too so should be lovely now.

    2. Should also say if you are going I wouldn’t hang around booking. When I did mine a few weeks ago hotels were already filling up and so were flights.

    3. Milan is a good base. Trains are frequent to the circuit (and I am sure were free on Saturday and Sunday – we stay on Lake Como now so some time since we did the trip from Milan.) Once at the train station there are free buses to the circuit. Be aware however that because the circuit is in the centre of the park, the buses drop off in one area of the park and then it is a walk from there to the track itself. Depending where the seats are (if you go for a grandstand) could take you a while. We buy tickets for the grandstand at the Parabolica and it is a good 20 minute walk from the bus drop off. GA is good – the first year we went we went on GA and walked most of the circuit, however, you need to be very early to get the best views if you want to stay in one spot – the most popular viewing spots soon fill up. Be warned – the toilets at Monza are the worst we have encountered at any circuit!

  4. I went to the Monza 2010 race last year for my birthday, and the experience was fantastic!! We stayed in a hotel just outside of milan – Hotel Adam, this was only 7 stops by metro from Centrale Station where the trains departed to Monza. We each got a 3 day return ticket to Monza for around €15 – fantastic value.

On arriving at Monza station we opted to take a cab to the circuit at a cost of around €15. There were free shuttle busses running from the station to the park but these took anything upto an hour to get to there due to traffic on the main roads. At the end of the day we chose to walk through the park to the free shuttle busses (20 mins) and got these back to the station at Monza.

We had only General admission tickets but found there to be a number of spots where small temporary stands had been put up for the use of GA ticket holders. We walked the first two sectors of the lap on the Friday and found a number of locations with excellent views of the track and cars. These free stands did tend to fill up early but we managed to spend the Whole of Sat and Sun in one of these at the Ascari corner – right on the bend, and the view was amazing!!

Having watched the race and a Ferrari win – we were welcomed onto the track and we managed to walk the final sector of the lap and catch the end of the celebrations on the pit straight.

Overall it was a fantastic experience and I am in the process of booking for the 2011 race – I could not recomend the experience enough – the atmosphere, weather, track and location etc were all perfect and made for a fantastic F1 weekend.

    1. HELLO Simon,

What time did you have to get to the track in order to snag those seats?

Do you know what time the track opens and are there lines etc.

This will be our first visit yo Monza and we can afford only the GA.

      Thx

  5. hello people

thinking of going to monza, could anyone tell which airport in milan would be better to fly in to..im flying from dublin..but it could the case my pal who works in holland will go and hes got their by train before.so might fly to holland stay at his get the train down to milin see the race and fly home to ireland and back the start which airport is best not sure about camping lol sounds mad i know,

ps oh i was sick for 2 weeks after spa last year need a dry weekend

    cheers

    1. If you can fly from Dublin into it, Linate is the best if you are staying in Milan – it is about 10-15 minutes from what I can remember to the main train station in Milan. Malpensa is about an hour out and I think, although not sure, that Bergamo is about the same distance.

  6. Hi. Like many we were spa faithful until 2010 when we went to Monza. We stayed at the holiday inn outside milan and it was terrible travelling in and out, about 2.5 hours each way each day between taxi, underground and train then walk. The event was brilliant though and we are booked to go back this year but a little differently.

Upon return we immediately booked at the hotel BB in Monza which is only 2.5 km away so hopefully makes the whole travel thing easier and fits our budget. 6 of us sharing 3 twin rooms

Depending on where you are staying obviously helps for the airport choice but Linate is the closest airport to the track. Malpensa is better connected for transfers but if you are heading in the direction of Monza for accommodation then Linate is best. We are in Scotland and easy jet only do malpensa but the times are poor so this year for less than easy jet we are flying KLM from edinburgh via Amsterdam to linate. We leave Thursday morning at 6am and hope to be at the track for the pit lane access on thursday afternoon

Last year we were in Roggia which was good but took the opportunity of free seating friday to try some other stands and this year we are going into 8A which is in our budget with good views

For me Monza was such a better experience than spa which I’d been to the previous 4 years. The sunshine, the fans, the track. The only real downside was the transport staying 25km from the track on the wrong side of Milan so hopefully we have fixed that this year

Cant wait and hope all those going for the first time enjoy it

    Jason

    1. Hi Jason

I think I have booked the same B&B as you in Monza. Hotel Milano on Via Lario? We are arriving late Thursday evening and looking at the info I think the best thing is to walk to the circuit – Google maps reckons on nearly an hour’s walk?
If you see 2 British women looking lost at breakfast, then it’s probably us!

      Helen

  7. Me and 3 mates have chosen monza this year for our first F1 experience, booked up for Bergamo airport and a hotel outside the airport. Going to jump the train into monza.

Were going to be in GA so anyone who can recommend the best spots to stand or where all the brits congregate would be great.

Cant wait to get into the atmosphere!

  8. Hi everyone,

Another Monza goer here! We are staying in Monza itself at the AS Hotel because I thought it would be easier that Milan.

I’ve heard it can be a bit of nightmare to get to the circuit though, even staying in Monza.

Anyone got any experience actually staying in Monza?

  9. I caught a bus to the track from monza in 2009, but walked back because it was too hard to find another bus. it took just as long – about half an hour if i remember, because the traffic is so clogged up. The train back to milan (for anyone who needs it) is hectic, you just have to force your way on, or hope that it wont be long until another one. but on the bright side, it’s so busy that they can’t check ticket so good luck ;)

    1. oh yeah, and just follow the crowd, they all know where they’re going so you shouldn’t get lost

      1. Tom do you recomend staying at Monza or in Milan?

  10. Prima Variente B is my favorite location trackside, and i will again be there this year.Never had much traffic trouble travelling [driving in to the circuit] from Bergamo, but maybe I have been lucky. Walking through the park is recommended.

  11. I went to Monza with a group (about 15 people) for several years (2007-2008-2009). We stayed at the campingsite (CAMPEGGIO DELL’AUTODROMO) at the Variante di Biassono / Prima Variante. A little bit crowded during the GrandPrix weekend, but there’s no place better than looking at the races from the top of our camper (10 meters from the track). See for pictures my website (www.formulanimal-pivs.com). Maybe we will be there this year again……….

    Greetz from Holland

  12. I plan on going with a fellow F1 Fanatic, MattHT and another mate. We are staying in a hostel between the circuit and Milan.

If anyone fancies a meet-up, get in touch!

    I’ll be getting a F1 Fanatic T-shirt ;)

    1. In case anyone is thinking of going there a bit last minute like, GA tickets seem to be quite affordable at 117 EUR for the weekend! http://euro.wwte7.com/pub/agent.dll?qscr=tsdt&stat=5&flgc=0&loid=180012&ofid=13720&sdat=9/9/2011&edat=11/9/2011&wtid=28&mdpcid=wwte.eu.333-30007.promo&eapid=333-30007

I am even a bit tempted to go, but probably won’t manage that this year.

    2. Andrew, Are you still planning to go to Monza with your mates? I could not find a hostel and am still searching around for accomodations. Which one are you staying at?

It would be great to meet up at the track. Are you going to go to the F1 Rocks concert at all?

  13. Exciting stuff…even though it’s 6 months away! Tweet me @andrewdtanner if you wanna meet up or contact me here.

  14. hey, i’ve been looking at tickets and stand 6a is 100 quid cheaper than 6b but theyre right next to each other on the circuit. has anyone been that could say whether it’s worth the extra 100 to go to 6b rather than 6a (cant afford 6c and quite fancy a view of the 1st chicane). from what i can tell its a better view of the chicane but not by much and finding photos from these stands is a nightmare!!

  15. Iain,

I’m not sure but I don’t think 6a will give you a view of first chicane. I think this stand gives view of main straight. I have booked 6c and I phoned Monza before booking and they tell me that’s the one to be in? We will see. If you are going for 6b I would ask to be seated at right hand side of stand. That should get you on right side for the corner.

Good luck with whatever you book. I’ve never been to Monza before so it’s a bit of a lottery knowing what to go for.

  16. Hi

Im heading to Milan and the Italian GP this year while in Europe. I will be by myself so any suggestions for an Aussie chick would be great. I have accommodation booked in Milan already, but any other details I should know???

Im lucky enought to follow this up with the Singapore GP on the way home, so both Monza and a Night Race for my first overseas GPs, so very excited about this.

    Cheers

    1. Hi :)

Where are you staying if you don’t mind my asking? We’re still looking for somewhere and places seem to be going pretty quick! Hope to get something booked early next week.

We’re happy to meet up with folk, a little Italian F1 Fanatic meet-up would be fantastic. Should be plenty for everyone to do in Milan.

      Sounds great about Singapore too!

  17. mates and myself arent staying in milan but well be heading there straight after qualifying so if anyone fancies a get together then were all for it!

  18. Hey

Hi Matt, yeah got a backpacker style B & B place at the Monza end of Milan, apparently its 500m from the hottest bars/clubs . . oh and shopping. A single bedroom is around 40 Euro a night. Its called Pophouse, check it out on Hostelworld.com . It looks clean, has a good rating and only has a small intake of clients.

Yeah Liam and Matt definately keen if anyone wants to meet up. Ill be in Milan for a week and have planned a day trip to Maranello the week after the GP is anyone is interested also.

    1. Just had a look but it’s out of rooms I can afford (with 2 mates) for the dates i’ll be there.

Won’t be able to make Maranello but there is a grid walk on Thursday I plan on attending :)

  19. Sorry I meant Andrew, should not have conversations at work and type at the same time :-)

  20. were staying at a hostel in bergamo which according to the hostel world website still has rooms available. its called the station hostel abaco center. worked out at about 25EUROS per head when we booked

    1. That hostel looks great :) I plan on putting a deposit down on something next week, i’ll run that one by my mates, thanks!

      1. Nat, Andrew, Liam – if you all are still planning to meet up, it would be great if i could meet up with you too, if you don’t mind. I will be there the 10th and 11th. So excited! Still looking for accomodation but I have the tickets. Are you planning to also go to the F1 Rocks concert? Thanks!

  21. Hey guys, Im lost. Me and a mate wants to visit Monza from South Africa. However I dont want to make the wrong choices as far as hotels. Can anyone recomend a good hotel or B/B? Should it be in Milan? There should also be some nightlife around. Please help.

Monza is an easy train ride from Bergamo too. I stayed in a BnB hostel for VERY cheap. I can get you more info if you want. It was an easy walk to the train station from the BnB and a 40 minute train ride to monza. Made for early mornings but it was well worth it. Nothing wrong with traveling the italian countryside at daybreak :)

      1. Thanks jamey.
It will be greate if you can send me some details, heinn.havinga@psgkonsult.co.za
What is the setup at the track?, can one get food/drinks easy there or should you come prepared? I am thinking of getting seats at 6C, can I get access to general admition also? What would you recomend as we want to see the whole track over the weekend.

        1. Do you still recomend Berganmo in stead of Milan?

        2. Can I encourage you both to post any advice on here so that other people can benefit from it. Thank you.

          1. Not a problem at all, bussy doing research so I will keep th eforum up to date.

Hey everyone, I’ve managed to persuade my girlfriend to let us tag on the Italian GP to our week-long Italian holiday. We’ve got general admission tickets and will be based in Milan over the race weekend.

This is my first GP, and I was just wondering how much information we’ll receive beforehand. Should we expect maps of the GA accessible areas around the circuit? How about a programme of timings for the support races and stuff? Is this something that we can get hold of beforehand or is it just a case of playing it by ear once we’re there? Thanks all!

    1. You can find plenty of maps of the GA areas on the internet, make sure you get a recent copy though.

You should be able to pick up a schedule of the weekend on the circuits site…I did have a copy for Silverstone last year but struggling to remember where I got it from.

        Thanks Andrew :)

  23. Hey

Im just finalising tickets now for the race for myself and a friend who will be attending with me on the Saturday and Sunday, can anyone suggest whats besft to go with – we were either looking at GA tickets or possibly stand 23(or about that price) . . Is it worth paying the extra for the stands, as Ive done both at Melbourne and have enjoyed the GA just as much as the stand seats??????

    1. I must admit, I am worried, having read all the comments. It’ll be my first Monza experience, having enjoyed Istanbul twice, Yas Marina and Silverstone, but it seems travelling from Milan (where i will be based) to Monza will be hectic.

      1. As far as I can tell there is a tube style system for Milan so I don’t think it will be too difficult. No major city should be difficult to navigate and the circuit is just north of Milan.

It took me 9 hours to get to Silverstone last year…and I live in the UK! Monza should be a walk in the park ;)

  24. Hi Jamey,

Could you please email me that info of the hostel you used, and also where the train station is, ticket prices etc? I would greatly appreciate it!

i’m going to monza with my 10-year-old son. we have purchased tickets for vedano stand. anyone have experiences with this stand, what’s it like?

  26. My son and I are going to Monza 2011, we decided on a long weekend and booked an apartment in Milan ; we ended up with baggage with our other halves wanting to go shopping in Milan but a small price to pay to see one of the best and fastest races on the calendar.
We booked Vedano 24 after a lot of trying to find what the best option and the least walk would be.

  27. I’m travelling as part of a group of 7. We’re in 8B – back row but one I think from looking at the tickets.

We’re staying in Pare / Valmadrera just outside of Lecco on the shore of Lake Como.

We’re planning on getting a regional train direct from there to the station on the Lesmo bend. Anyone used these trains before – I’m hoping they’ll be a bit less manic than the Milan bound trains.

My husband & I have tickets to the race in Monza and we are staying in Milan at the Residenza Calvino. We have a car, but we would like to take public transportation to the race if possible. Does anyone know who I can contact? Thanks! Marlene

  29. hey folks. myself and ny fiance are going to monza and have got GA tickets. we will be taking the train from milan, would it be best to get there as early as possible? where would people reccommend standing to get the best view? also am i right in saying that there are a small amount of seats in some of the GA area’s? many thanks

  30. My son and are flying in to Milan from Luton leaving Thursday around 6:15pm (I think). We are staying in Desio, and have seats in stand 6c. Would be good to meet anyone else who is travelling same time and or staying around that area. May be beneficial to share taxi costs to track etc. Maybe have a beer or three during day / night?

  31. Right, got my flights and hostel sorted. We’re staying in Bergamo. A quick look on Google Maps would imply it’s quite a lengthy journey to and from the circuit…can anyone with experience please elaborate on their thoughts regarding travel? I would like to pop into Milan a bit too so any help there would be much appreciated.

    Thanks.

  32. Me and my friends are in same boat as you Andrew, were currently planning on getting trains everywhere from bergamo and heading to milan straight after qualifying.

    1. We should probably get our heads together Liam and see what we can come up with…I shall have a look over the course of the weekend :) If there are enough of us (3 in my party incl. me) than we can probably share taxi’s for relatively short trips.

      1. Right, i’ve done some digging…

There are trains every hour to Monza and from Bergamo. Latest return to Bergamo is at 22:19 everyday. Price on the website is listed at €3,75 for each journey, so that’s 2 x €3,75 for a return. The journey is ~45mins each way.

A quick Google Maps search says that the driving distance between the train station and circuit is about 10 minutes…so a taxi between a few people should be minimal cost. There should be shuttle buses on the Sunday at least.

Monza to Milan is priced at around €2,00 on the train with a journey time of under 20 mins. Trains departing every 15 mins or less.

Milan to Bergamo is priced at around €4-7,00 depending on departure time. Services on the hour (approx. 65min journey time) and at 10mins past the hour (approx. 50min journey time). Last train back to Bergamo at 23:40.

I expect the price will be more on the day and the frequency of the trains I guess could change but I doubt it.

          Andrew,
Do you know where you can get the train in Monza to Milan? I am getting so excited for the race!!!! Marlene

David, Please tell me where I can find more information about the trains between Milan and Monza. Thanks! Marlene

    1. Try here. This is what I used to find everything above http://www.trenitalia.com

      1. You may find these links helpful

        – trains: http://www.trenitalia.com/

        – Bus: http://www.brianzatrasporti.it/LinkClick.aspx…

        – Map of the circuit: monzanet.it/get/315/657/depliant_piantina_ge…

        1. Thanks John. I’ll benefit from the bus link definitely.

  34. Cheers for all the info guys.

Where abouts in Bergamo are you Andrew? Our hostel is right outside the train station.

    1. No problem :)

We’re staying at ‘Station Hostel Abaco Center
Via G.Paglia, 31’ which when I look up on Google sounds very close to, if not the same, place as you’re staying!

      http://abacocasa.com/inglese.html

  35. OK – So… ..given that Alta Velocita C tickets have gone…. …I need some advice on Prima Variant… …should I go for A or B tickets? – the map on Monzanet doesn’t indicate which is closer to the pit straight (and will therefore have a better view of the first chicane).

The cost is more for A – does that mean this is the closer one that I should go for…? I can afford either – I just want as good a view of the first chicane.

    Many thanks peeps! :-)

  36. Hi Tom, If you are talking about the stand on the outside of the 1st chicane, it is a single long stand. A refers to the upper tier which is more steeply raked whilst B is the bottom tier and flatter. The catch fence looks quite heavy, so I have gone for A to hopefully get a view over the top of it.

    1. Cheers – I think I’m going to do the same!! :)

  37. I cannot purchase tickets via F1.com, due to delivery.
Anyone can suggest some other site good for ticket purchase?

    1. I purchased direct with the circuit at

      http://www.monzanet.it/en

  38. OMG its only 20 days away :)

Hi there Im staying in the NH bergamo hotel which is walking distance to the station.

I plan on getting the 50 min train to monza but then what???? Do you think there will just be loads of busses shuttles taxis etc????

    1. I would think so on race day but any other day I’m not sure.

  39. Oh and I have Tribuna Laterale Sinistra tickets……….. are these good? and which gate etc do I enter?

god this is so hard to plan hahahahahah

  40. We don’t get into Bergamo until about 10.00 on the Saturday so whoever is around well be able to meet. And the F1 rocks?? No idea

    1. I think you’re staying at the same place as me. Check my post a little bit above.

  41. Hey,

Can anyone who’s been to the monza grand prix before let us know about the cost of things there?

I’ve never been to Italy / Milan before (or anywhere in Europe actually) and have no idea how much things are going to cost. I’ve paid all the planes, accomodation and tickets already but how much am I likely to spend at the circuit / in a restaurant etc? I’m there from the tuesday before to GP to the Tuesday after and have heard many stories about banks blocking cards used abroad so want to get my euros sorted out before I go. I’m headin over with my dad and sister so it’s unlikely we’re going ot be hitting the town hard, just things like dinner, wine, maybe some merchandise etc and obviously kicking about for a few days before / after the grand prix itself.

    Cheers

    1. Hi Iain

Can’t really help you with costs of restaurants etc but if you check my comments above I have detailed likely transport costs. They seem pretty reasonable to me.

  42. Where can I find a good map of the circuit? I need to be at Vedano entrance to exchange my vouchers which I bought thtough the FI website. I want to get off at the nearest atation to that entrance. Hope you can help

      1. Thanks. I cant find the Venano entrance on this map, and I’m not good with Italian. Any other welp perheaps?

        1. Sorry, I mean the VEDANO entrance.

  43. Vedano is down on the outside bottom right “corner” of the old oval circuit as you look at the map I linked to – by the light blue line – Ingresso A.

  44. Have just received Kangaroo TV for Italian GP. Now starting to count down days. Not long now. Weather looks good so hopefully a great weekend coming up.

  45. Hi there – really looking forward to going to Monza this year. Can anyone tell us if all the tickets include the pit walk on thursday or do we have to buy tickets for this separately? Also still not decided on seats now Alta Velocita C is sold out – looking at 8A? Any advice welcome! Thanks guys and maybe we will meet up?

    1. As far as I know if you just present your weekend ticket that should be enough for the pit-walk, doubt you would need to purchase anything else. I’m planning on heading down there too so i’ll double check.

      1. Hi

See my message below regarding the pit walk :)

  46. Sarah & Mark.
Not been before but on recommendation got tickets in 6c. But he did say stand 8 on other side of track was also good. Can’t help thinking got to be some incedents there.

  47. Just got this email from bookF1.com, thought you all might find it useful…

Monza Circuit are hosting a free pit walk on Thursday 8th September 2011 between 15:30 and 18:00 for 3-day ticketholders. Just head to the circuit with your 3-day ticket and you will be granted access to the pit walk. A drivers autograph session will also take place between 16:30 and 17:30.

    Friday Roving Seating

Friday works on a roving seating policy at Monza, which means spectators are able to access the different grandstands and watch the events from an available seat. It’s a great way to experience the views from the different grandstands and perhaps choose a stand for next year’s race!

A few special grandstands are excluded from the roving scheme as they have reserved seats on Friday. Simply check your ticket to see if you have a reserved seat number on the Friday.

    Race Weekend Travel

If you’re planning to drive then please keep in mind that the circuit is based in a national park and so parking is not available directly adjacent to the circuit. However, there are various parking areas located around the edges of the park from which you can either walk or take a shuttle bus into the circuit. The recommended parking is the Stadium car park to the east which has a larger capacity than the western car parks. A parking map can be found in your bookF1.com online account area.

For those looking to use public transport, the most popular route is to take a train to Monza station. From Monza station, you can take a shuttle bus to either the Vedano entrance (near the pit straight) or the Biassono entrance (near grandstands 9/10). There are also some local train services running directly to Biassono station entrance including a special free service from Milan Centrale on the Sunday only. Extra train information and timetables can be downloaded from your online account.

A basic campsite is also available on the edge of the circuit called the Grand Prix Village, which is approximately €15.00 per day and cannot be pre-booked. The campsite is only a short walk from the circuit entrance.

    Extra Tips

You are welcome to take food and non-alcoholic drink into the circuit. Alcoholic drink can be purchased once inside the circuit grounds. Portable/fold-up chairs are also fine but please be aware that potentially dangerous items like glass bottles and tin cans may be confiscated. Ear plugs and binoculars can also be useful extras to improve your enjoyment of the on-track action.

There is no radio broadcast of commentary at the track, but loudspeakers will be running commentary in both Italian and English. FanVision have also announced they will now be vending at Monza, which is a great way to get full English commentary and live video.

    1. fantastic! exactly the info i was looking for :)

    2. very helpful thanks!!!!!

    3. How far is the walk from Monza station to the track? Time wise? and how long will the shuttle busses take?

  48. Anyone got any idea of prices inside circuit? I’m mainly thinking price of beer but food would also be good

  49. Hey everyone….

I am traveling from New York City to my first GP ….I have booked accommodations at “Hotel For You” in an area between Monza and Milan. It’s an area called “cernusco sul naviglio”. Anyone ever stay there?

Also, is it recommended to rent a car and drive from the hotels to the track? How is the parking situation there?

    I’d appreciate any help :)

    1. The track is in the middle of a National Park so I doubt it will be easy to park a car anywhere. Check my big message just a few comments up for parking information.

  51. Hi we are camping with the F1 campsite at Monza, is anyone else camping there or has camped there? what is it like? Also is it about 40 min walk to track, we have tickets in 6b.

  52. Hi all,
I’m hoping you can help. We are coming to the race and were wondering if anyone could give us some advice. Our flights are at 7pm on the sunday and we need to be at the airport at 5:30 will we have enough time to leave the race and arrive at Liante airport? Is there a bus/train directly to the airport or could you please give us the best advice as to get to the airport on time. Thank you in advance. Rebecca.

    1. Hi Rebecca

There probably will be plenty of public transport available but given your tight time period it might be best to book a private airport transfer?

      Have a look here…

      http://www.linate-airport.com/transportation.html

You can also browse Google for private airport transfers. I used one in Portugal and it was a life saver.

  53. Only 2 days until I go folks! Very excited :)

It would be great to have a meet-up. If anyone is still up for this you can get hold of me on Twitter (@andrewdtanner) or email andrewtanner@hotmail.co.uk.

I can give you my mobile number as well if you like but keep in mind that it won’t be cheap to make/receive calls outside your home country.

I hope you all have a wonderful time!

    1. Happy to meet up for a pint! :-)

  54. Argh! Anyone else been affected by the strike in Italy tomorrow? I’ve ended up swapping my flight for one to Nice and then we’ll have to get the train along the coat :/

After a couple of weeks trying to learn very basic Italian, now I’ve gotta dust off the French.

    1. I had no idea about that, thanks for pointing it out. It doesn’t appear to upset my plans, i’m travelling on Wednesday.

Keith, if you see this, might be worth a mention on the site? Can imagine this will catch a few people out. However, with the strike happening tomorrow it might be too short notice.

      1. It was really short notice, BA gave me a helpful text at 10.30am this morning – almost exactly 24 hours before I was due to fly.

Should only affect flights tomorrow apparently (unless they call more).

        1. From one who lived and worked in Italy for several years, there will always be more strikes, they are almost a daily event, but often only last for a few hours.
The Italian for strike is “schopero”.

        2. You’re lucky! My flight was meant,to depart at 2 today and got a text message from easyjet telling me it was cancelled at 11 this morning when I was 5 mins from the airport. The next available flight to transfer to got me into milan on saturday night. Just had to spend 400 quid for a flight tomorrow. Not happy with the italian air traffic guys right now!

          1. How infuriating :(

I don’t have the facilities to pay for a £400 flight, no credit card. Really hope this is sorted and doesn’t affect anyone else.

  55. Seeings were in the same hostel then shouldn’t be too difficult to find you Andrew.

What’s all this about strikes? I hadn’t heard anything?

    1. There’s a country-wide strike in Italy tomorrow, announced at short-notice. Lots of cancelled flights but everything should be back to normal from Wednesday.

      1. I really hope so!
