  1. Max drove a strong weekend again, drove well on the mediums to keep them competitive
    Lewis a very close second.

  2. I don’t see how Ricciardo can be DotW when losing in quali and bumping out Tsunudo.
Also not Hamilton; Russell had a similar race on Sunday but was better on Saturday.

    1. I went for ricciardo and I see your point, I knew already before voting that it’s a bit weird to vote for someone taking someone out and getting a 10 sec penalty, but this might be the last time he had a good race and the last chance to vote for him.

In reality I don’t see a clear dotw driver, the easy choice is ofc verstappen, dominant performance, but he was never really under threat from anyone; hamilton had a good race as well ofc but didn’t really have to do a lot apart from keeping perez behind, don’t see any other contenders.

      1. this might be the last time he had a good race and the last chance to vote for him.

        That’s a good reason.
And we can always put an asterisk next to his name ;)

  3. DOTW & DOTD: VER, no one else stood out enough for either accolade.

    1. Bottas did. Exceptional in qualifying and had a solid race despite being on the wrong tyre.

      1. Yeah, I agree there @geemac.

  4. No real stand-out performances, Verstappen or Alonso for me.

  5. I don’t understand the votes for Ricciardo .. He ended another drivers race with a mistake and received a reply 10 second penalty. Is it only because of the tire offset so he had the opportunity to overtake at the end of a dull died out race? I’d rather pick Alonso

    1. I think its a sympathy vote for Ricciardo. Nice guy and this weekend he had the right strategy and got the spotlights.

      1. And it probably helps that there were no contestant that was obviously very far above everyone else, though Verstappen got pole and drove a very solid race to win it (I do guess one might call it a master class of sorts).

        1. I think Verstappen did do exactly that actually @bosyber. Just look at his stint on the mediums doing all laps incredibly consistently at about 1:22.5 (apart from those under VSC) +/- 3 tenths, that shows he was doing exactly what he needed and wanted to do.

Sure, it’s not as spectacular as seeing super quick laps from someone, or chasing/being chased by another car for 20 odd laps but it is impressive.

          1. Yeah, that’s why I voted for him @bascb

    2. Devil’s advocado – Ric was lapping well over a second quicker. Yuki knew he was coming and would unlikely to be in the mood to muck around – the pass itself was inevitable. So if he’d not tried to amble through the slow section holding Ric up purely with car position, or even had done a better job at just that, he’d have finished in a decent place himself.

      1. Ric was lapping well over a second quicker. Yuki knew he was coming and would unlikely to be in the mood to muck around – the pass itself was inevitable.

At the same time @didaho, that is also an argument against Ricciardo – surely he would have gotten past soon after this bad move anyway, making it even less of a good attempt.

  6. Alonso. Max deserves just a mention, had it too easy. I saw very little racing from the rest. Abysmally poor driving from the Merc chauffeurs, it was supposed to be a motor race an Masi used to say, but they forgot about it after L1T2. And the Fezza guys? Did they just give up or was the car that bad? I honestly don’t know.

  7. Surely has to be Max. Absolutely faultless all the way through. I don’t really understand how Ricciardo ends up driver of the day or weekend. Sure his passes were entertaining but the tyre advantage that late in the race made them almost easier than DRS. Hard to vote for a driver who collected a 10 second penalty for a clumsy move that took another driver out of the race completely unnecessarily!

    1. Completely agree. Ricciardo has a reputation for great overtakes. This was definitely not amongst them.

  8. I voted for Max. First time anyone in F1 has ever won 14 races in a season.

  9. If anyone saw the consistent lap times chart Max was setting, it’d be even more skewed in his favour.

  10. Over the whole weekend it was only Max while there were some DotD Alonso, Lewis and Lando
