Red Bull clinched the 2022 constructors championship title in the United States Grand Prix. It is the fifth time they have won the title, and their first since 2013.

  1. Be interesting to see if they kept in budget this season. Roll on March for more drama!

    1. I would have thought it’d be pretty easy. There’s no fighting until the last race or anything like that this time. They can effectively shut things down now and run on minimal costs if required for the final few races.

      1. If it’s “only” a few hundred thousand dollars like Horner claims, they should have plenty of time to reduce their expenditures in the next few races.

        It they better enjoy how easy they had it this season. Whatever penalties they get will make it much harder next season. I have no doubt they’ll start with a quick car but Merc and Ferrari are smelling blood in the water and will push really hard as the season progresses. I don’t have much faith that Ferrari will be able to overcome their strategy and brain fade mistakes from team and drivers, but Merc will definitely be keen to challenge Red Bull if they have even close to a competitive car v

        1. I still think Red Bull have a big advantage going into next year. They have nailed the design concept so will be refining that concept for next year. From day 1, it’ll be a case of trying to develop the car to make it faster. Mercedes picked the wrong concept so whilst they may now know what they need to do with the new car, they’re still starting again with a brand new design. They’ll have to get used to the new car, see if the data matches their simulations and work from there. Ferrari are a bit in the middle – they seem to have designed a car that works reasonably well but they just haven’t been able to keep up with the development pace of Red Bull or Mercedes.

      Hmmm, i will reserve judgement on the “well deserved” but until we hear the findings from the FIA on budget.

        Agree re Dietrich though, the man did so much for lots of sports, motorsports included. RIP

  3. Oh, wow, I didn’t realise it was so long ago they won their last one! RIP Mr. Mateschitz. I hope his passing doesn’t affect the Red Bull company’s incredible presence in so many sports.

    1. If you think about it, 2013 was the last red bull domination year, then the merc domination era started, ferrari brought some challenge in 2017 and 2018 but not enough, then we went back to merc domination and then we had 2021, merc still had marginally the best car and it showed in the constructor’s; this is the first year where they don’t have the best or joint best car since 2013.

  5. Cheaters prospering – we’ll see if that sticks. Despite Horner’s shenanigans, Adrian Newey built a fantastic car, and Max Verstappen drove brilliantly, well done to them.
    Nice to see Mercedes slowly getting back up there too. Vettel’s swansong – good to see.

    1. Yes, good performance by vettel indeed, could’ve been even higher without the terrible pit stop.
