Sebastian Vettel produced a replica Niki Lauda helmet for the race weekend; Lewis Hamilton had one in time for the race.

Seventh was a result to be proud of for Daniil Kvyat in the Toro Rosso, though he was frustrated at being beaten to sixth by former team mate Carlos Sainz Jnr.

Max Verstappen was on course for second when Red Bull released him from the pits fractionally ahead of Bottas. Unfortunately he squeezed Bottas too much and got a penalty. Vettel, behind, was the beneficiary, taking second.

  1. Picture on Kvyat great, car narrowly not “touching” the marshal helmets.

    1. It is an excellent shot. Separation like this is key to a great capture.

  2. I think wharlts clear from that picture is that if Redbull had held Max back for Bottas they would have had to hold him back for Seb too – so in the end nothing lost by going for it.

    1. I think it’s clear from the picture(and the video) that there was plenty of space for both cars and VER caused an unnecessary collision and should have definitely be penalized much harsher.

      1. It is also clear that Max could not see Valtteri. He got 5 seconds penalty and 2 penalty points for being sent into the Mercedes he could not see (and judging by the helmet Max was just looking straight ahead).

He should not have squeezed and Valtteri was very unlucky to get a slowly deflating tire by it. But it was not a deliberate foul.
