Ocon: Force India not distracted by rumours over future

RaceFans Round-up

In the round-up: Force India wil not allow the speculation around its future to be a distraction from the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend, Esteban Ocon told RaceFans.

What they say

Speaking before the news the team had gone into administration following legal action by a company linked to his team mate, Ocon said the following when asked by RaceFans how hard it was to stay focused on his job under the circumstances:

To be honest the atmosphere is as good as it was one year ago. And it’s transparent for me.

We are having new parts, I had a new steering a steering wheel a couple of races ago. I’m not lacking anything I have suits, underwear, everything I need!

I don’t see that problem, of course. I hear and I’m sure it’s a difficult situation. But I come here, the race team is focused on the job and it shouldn’t change. For me as I say it’s transparent.

Comment of the day

Yesterday we revealed Sergio Perez is involved in the legal proceedings which have led Force India into administration. Here’s what Sean made of the news:

I have to think Perez is leading his sponsors into an attempted takeover using the debt as leverage.

The BWT money actually being a loan rather than sponsorship is interesting too. I don’t know how English bankruptcy works but sounds to me they had a convertible note and chose to remain as a creditor should something happen. This situation will only get more convoluted and risk their future if the team is not sold quick.

  1. That article about recreating a moment from the San Marino GP in 1988. It doesn’t explain why that overtake is so important, I’ve never seen anything about it, and lapping a car doesn’t seem all that interesting anyway. What is it about?

    1. @fer-no65 I don’t really get it either. I could understand the relevance of this particular move a little better if it was a pass for a position rather than a pass to lap someone.

    2. Following the link it appears to be a thinly veiled advert to flog a very fancily faked up photo. I’d hazard a wee guess that the photo is extraordinarily expensive ….

  2. An interesting COTD. The ABC-article, though.

    1. What about it?

      1. I’m guessing not interesting. At least that what the ‘though’ suggests.

  3. I got an unexpected friend request today which made me think that I could use part of the multi million dollar heritage I’m being offered via email by a mysterious African widow to help Force India.

    1. Michelle? LOL, yeah, me too.

      1. Yeah, me too. She is really popular.

      2. It’s the 2nd of the sort that I received. Thing is I cannot delete it and the notification is still there. If I press it it says there are no friendship requests pending, but I have two unread friendship requests.

Michelle sounds like a nice person though

  4. Shoeys are dead. I saw Billy Monger and his podium buddy do a goddam LEGGIE.

    1. Lets hope that trend doesn’t catch on. At leas it doesn’t look like it will run very far
