Mercedes has set the launch date for its 2018 F1 car, the W09.

The car, officially titled the Mercedes-AMG F1 W09 EQ Power+, will break cover on February 22nd at Silverstone. The team intends the car to complete a 100 kilometre shakedown run at the track once it has been revealed.

Ferrari has already announced it will launch its car on the same day.

Mercedes’ cars won the last four Formula One constructors’ championship titles. Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg won all of the last four drivers’ titles with the team.

  1. Seems everyone is announcing their launch dates today.. let the excitement begin!

Is this a challenge to see how much marketing mumbo jumbo they can get their drivers to quote in press conferences?

  3. Anyone know if this will be open to the public? I used to be around the circuit a lot and sometimes before going home if a team was testing I would ask the staff on the gate if I could watch, they always let me through as long as I stayed out of the way etc, any chance something like that would happen here? Just to note also I never caught any F1 teams testing as I was never free when they were running so I don’t know how secretive they would be about the car reveal.

    1. @fjbh1 I think it’s so very very super secret. AFAIK they are only inviting the global motoring press. Very hush hush.

    2. something for free in f1?, no chance.

    3. @fjbh10 It’s a Filming day, so unless it is a private (invitation only) jaunt, I don’t see how they can ask Silverstone to not let people in to not see their cars run. I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the other teams send some people to take a few photos.
They always seems to do Filming days after they reveal their cars, so maybe some F1 Fanatic can tell us what the access was like in previous years.

      1. Good point, I might be a Ferrari spy haha!
